AVID Keeping Busy (February 2016)
Kaposia Education Center in South St. Paul hosted a site visit with administration and teachers from Lakeville School District to showcase their AVID implementation in grades 4 and 5 as Lakeville starts exploring this possibility for their district.
Simley AVID students demonstrated how to facilitate a Socratic Seminar to all of the Simley High School staff on Monday, Feb. 1 as Simley High School continues to deepen their understanding around Critical Reading.
AVID Path Training was held on Feb. 10-11 at Globe University where approximately 120 teachers, staff and administration from Inver Grove Heights, Roseville, South St. Paul, South Washington County, Stillwater, White Bear Lake and West St. Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan learned more about implementing AVID strategies schoolwide.
Participants walked away with strategies that can be implemented immediately around Critical Reading, Culturally Relevant Teaching, Student Success skills, Math and how to do Tutorials in the AVID Elective Classroom as well as content classes.
