AVID in the Works (December 2016)
AVID in Inver Grove Heights is growing stronger in its school wide implementation journey to becoming a National Demonstration School. The teachers and students held a college door decorating contest to show their support for a high education culture. more
AVID Tutors (November 2016)
AVID tutors from Inver Grove Heights, Roseville, Spring Lake Park, White Bear Lake, Shakopee, West St. Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan participated in a full day of training about how to use the Socratic Methodologies during the 10-step tutorial process. A make-up tutor training will be coming soon if you are still in need of training your tutors!
AVID Bridge Camp (July 2016)
Students in grades 7 and 8 from Inver Grove Heights Middle School and Roseville Area Middle School participated in a 4 week Algebra camp at Globe University in Woodbury. Students were not only immersed in math, but were able to visit community businesses to see how math is used in various careers. more
AVID PE/Health (July 2016)
AVID students in grades 9 and 10 from Inver Grove Heights Community Schools, Roseville Community Schools, Stillwater Area Schools and White Bear Lake Area Schools participated in a Summer PE and Health course for credit at Roseville High School. more
AVID Students Stay Engaged (April 2016)
White Bear Lake AVID Juniors and Seniors kicked off spring break with a team-building lock-in. AVID students from Simley High School went on a college visit. more
AVID Pathway to Schoolwide Training (March 2016)
About 130 teachers and administrators from Inver Grove Heights, Roseville, So. St. Paul, South Washington County, Stillwater, and West St. Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan participated in a two-day AVID Pathway to Schoolwide Training. They learned specific strategies to implement in their classrooms and sites around Critical Reading, Culturally Relevant Teaching, Math, Student Success and Tutorology. more
AVID Keeping Busy (February 2016)
Simley AVID students demonstrated how to facilitate a Socratic Seminar to all of the Simley High School staff on Monday, Feb. 1 as Simley High School continues to deepen their understanding around Critical Reading. more
