Lovin' Movement and Visions of Possibilities (February 2016)
Saturday, January 2016, EMID and SoulTouch Productions celebrated the completion of the Fall afterschool programs, Lovin’ the Skin I’m In. This retreat was uniquely different than other youth retreats EMID has hosted, focusing on only Lovin’ the Skin I’m In programs. The Lovin’ Movement of hope and healing, brought together afterschool programs from Inver Grove Heights Middle School, Heritage Middle School, Roseville Area Middle School, Crosswinds School, and Westwood Middle School. Lovin’ Sisters had the opportunity to engage with special guests we called Visions of Possibilities (VOP).
The VOP list included inspiring women in our communities:
For part of our day, each site showcased their learning from the semester. Heritage MS presented on the misrepresentation of girls and women in the media, and the negative impact that goes with it. We ended our day with a graduation ceremony and cupcakes.
“This whole experience throughout Lovin’ has made me: happy, confident, thoughtful, mindful, strong, and feel’n BEAUTIFUL.”
“Fantastic Program!! I am so appreciative that my child has had the opportunity to experience this extraordinary environment and built new Lovin’ relationships.”
